Plan F is the most comprehensive Medicare supplement plan available. With Aetna Plan F you can see any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare.

Plan F is offered by Aetna and covers everything that Original Medicare does not pay in full. As long as you go to a Medicare-approved provider you will not have to pay anything out of pocket and as long as the services are Medicare eligible. As you can probably imagine, the plan that covers the most is also going to cost the most in premium. There is no exception with plan F, it is the most expensive supplement plan on average, compared to the other plans available.

The chart below shows exactly what Plan F covers in comparison to the other Medigap plans available.

Aetna Medicare Supplement Plan G

Medicare Benefits Plan G Coverage

The Aetna Plan G is a top choice among our clients. Folks who buy an Aetna Medicare Supplement Plan G pay a fixed monthly premium and an annual deductible of 2024 per year at the doctor’s office. There are no copays with Plan G at the doctor or specialist.

Plan G is identical to plan F, the only exception is that the Part B deductible is not covered. This deductible is $240 for 2024 . With a Plan G, the most you would pay out-of-pocket for the year is the $240, as long as you go to a doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare and the services are Medicare eligible.

The chart below highlights the coverage offered with Plan G.

Aetna Medigap Plan G Coverage:

Aetna Medicare Supplement Plan N

Plan N from Aetna is also a great choice. The difference in coverage between plans G and N are shown below in the chart. You will see that plan N has an asterisk in the “Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment” box. This means there is a copay when you see a doctor. The copay is between $0 – $20. In addition, the Part B deductible is not covered, just like Plan G.

*The office visit copayments do not count towards the Part B deductible.

Medicare Benefits Plan N Coverage
Medicare Part A coinsurance & hospital costs (up to 365 additional days after Medicare benefits are
used up)
100%
Medicare Part B Coinsurance or copayment $0-$20 Office Copay

Skilled nursing facility coinsurance 100%

Foreign Travel Emergency (up to $50k) 100%

The copay at a doctor’s (including a specialist) office is up to $20. Also, there is a $50 copay at the emergency room but this is waived if you are admitted. In addition, Part B excess charges are not covered on plan N, these charges can be easily avoided if you simply go to a provider that takes “Medicare assignment.”
